#1 Experience Harford Pier ~
Walk down Harford Pier, built in 1878, and read about it's history, including how in the early 1900's it was the largest crude oil shipping port in the world. Visit with the locals, sunning themselves on the lower levels of the pier. Watch the boats come and go, and the fishermen offload their catch. Or catch your own ~ bring (or rent) fishing gear and fish right off the pier (no license needed to fish off a public pier).
#2 Become a Farmer for a Day ~
Whether you find yourself in north county or south, you can find a family farm to enjoy. At Jack Creek Farms, west of Templeton, stroll through the gardens and antique farm equipment display, pick a sunflower or a basket of sun kissed vine ripe tomatoes, throw a lasso, explore the fort maze, wooden train and tractor tire garden, or visit with the farm animals. Avila Valley Barn, on the road to Avila Beach, offers hayrides, farm animals (who love to be fed), an amazing gift & toy shop, as well as fantastic food. Ice cream, fresh roasted corn, baked goods, and more. Seasonally, pick your own fruit from their orchards!
#3 Visit a Castle ~
165 rooms and 127 acres of gardens, terraces, pools and walkways, Hearst Castle is a magical place to tour. William Randolph Hearst's vision as a place to display his artwork, became the hot ticket for the who's who in Hollywood, politics, and journalism in the '30's and 40's. Now you can tour the castle at your leisure, and truly feel as though you've been transported back to the days of Greta Garbo and Charles Lindbergh playing on the tennis courts.
#4 Riding the Oceano Dunes ~
So many ways to go! Rent ATV's and fly through the dunes, drive on the beach yourself (just make sure to check the tides), or imagine yourself galloping through the ocean on horseback, hair flowing behind you, just like a scene in a movie. Any or all of these options are right at your fingertips!
#5 S'mores @ the Firepit ~
How better to kick off spring then gathered poolside around the firepit, roasting marshmallows for your s'more! All guests of The Cliffs are invited to take part in movies by the pool, made even better with S'MORES!
